FOOTING

Why Good Footing Is So Important...

Over the years, sand or a sand/wood mixture was the standard in arenas where horses worked. Arena builders wanted better, and searched for new materials which they found in plastic chaff. In Germany in the early 1990's, the first arena footings with geo textile or felt chaffs were created.

Initially critical of this new footing, equestrians soon found that felt and fibers proved to be the most successful solution. Internationally in the last ten years, it has turned out to be an optimal footing for dressage and jumping arenas. In addition to dressage and jumping, these footings are suitable for therapeutic riding, round pens, lunging, Polo, horse race tracks, carriage events and in western pleasure riding and cutting.
